Rethinking the Money Shot
Real estate photography in the Bay Area must adhere to two basic rules if it's to be considered "good":
It must be shot with as wide an angle as possible, and it must focus on the kitchen.
Makes sense in a lot of ways, and we get it. We never miss an opportunity to capture a sprawling living space and present it in all of its cavernous glory. But a home is more than that...its story more complex. So to go with the big-production action sequences we never overlook the quiet sections. We take great care to really comb through a home's narrative for sections with whispered dialog or no dialog at all.
"The measure of a man is in the square footage of his closets..."
No one's actually ever said that, I don't think, but it isn't far from the truth in Oakland and San Francisco. Storage definitely comes at a premium and we're sure to feature it at any package level.
If you've seen one...
For all of its rich architectural diversity, San Francisco's bedroom's tend to come in one configuration: a box. That said, it's a challenge to photograph them in a way that gives the viewer the appropriate scale or in a way that delivers the impact you'd like.
By showing off their adjoining spaces, you get a much fuller narrative when telling the story of your home.
